Nov 2, 2012, 2:11 PM | Updated: 3:01 pm

A young man is clinging to life at Harborview Medical Center after a shooting in South Seattle Friday afternoon.

Seattle Police several people called 911 around 12:20 p.m., reporting hearing at least a half-dozen gunshots near McClintock Avenue S. and S. Byron Street. Witnesses also told police they saw a man lying on the ground.

Officers arrived and found a man with a gunshot wound to the chest. His injuries appear to be life-threatening.

Detectives are searching for an Asian or Hispanic man, between 15 and 16-years-old, wearing a blue jacket, and backpack. They believe the suspect jumped into a car and fled the scene.

Officials notified staff at nearby Franklin High School as a precaution.

Police believe the victim is in his late teens or early 20’s.
