MyNorthwest reports on overnight crime in the Puget Sound region on the morning of June 27: Two separate shootings in Tacoma and a DUI in University Place.

Assault and shooting in Tacoma home

Just after 10:30 p.m. Sunday, June 26, Tacoma PD responded to a report that multiple people had been shot in a residence at the 900 block of East 52nd Street.

When police arrived, a 34-year-old man walked out of the house and collapsed with serious injuries. While assessing his injuries, officers say the man became combative, so they detained him and transported him to the hospital.

While searching the property, two more men were found with gunshot wounds, a 38-year-old who was declared dead at the scene, and a 28-year-old man who was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Four more people were found inside the house, an adult woman and three children, all uninjured.

One man was later detained at Lakewood Hospital. Police say that he had been shot at the residence, but left the scene for medical attention. He is being charged with two counts of assault.

The investigation is ongoing.
