Classes at Shorecrest High School and Kellogg Middle School are canceled Monday as police investigate threatening messages.

Both schools are located in Shoreline and are in the Shoreline School District. Kellogg is located just north of the high school campus.

District officials said the messages were left on phones at both schools and the cancellation comes “out of an abundance of caution.”

Classes at both schools were initially going to run on a two-hour delay. The cancellation was announced just before 9 a.m.

“Families of Kellogg students who were already on their buses when the initial two-hour delay was announced can be picked up at the Shoreline Center Auditorium,” a spokesperson for the school district wrote in a news release.

Families were asked to park in the lot and entrances on the north side of the building. Students who were already dropped off at Kellogg for zero period were allowed to be picked up at the school.

In December, Shorecrest was placed on lockdown after deputies said a student brought ammunition to school. Two days later, classes and after-school activities were canceled after district officials they received multiple reports that there was a potential threat related to the lockdown.
