The Cascades certainly received the snow that was promised.
Up to a foot of snow fell overnight. Snoqualmie Pass received 18 inches of snow. Stevens Pass received 16 inches.
Crystal Mountain and Mount Baker each received about 1 foot of snow.
And it isn’t over quite yet. Jay Neher with the National Weather Service says more snow is headed toward the passes Saturday.
Snow levels are expected to rise to about 3,500 feet south of Snoqualmie Pass, according to the weather service. However, those will dip back down Friday night through Saturday night, according to Neher. Neher says the Cascades will could get another snow dump Friday night, followed by off-and-on snow Saturday.
More snow is likely Saturday night into Sunday.
Travel through the passes will remain difficult, the weather service reports. I-90 at Snoqualmie Pass was closed due to avalanche danger Friday morning. Both directions of I-90 reopened just before 6 a.m., but conditions made travel hazardous.
