Someone’s trying to burn down West Seattle

Six arsons in October have Seattle police on their guard.
Captain Pierre Davis told a room of concerned West Seattle residents that the fires are part of an arson investigation. There’s a good chance the fires are being started by the same individual, Davis told KING 5.
The most recent fire was started in a recycling bin outside a home near 40th Avenue SW and SW Morgan Street, the West Seattle Blog reports. That was half a mile from an Oct. 12 fire that was shown in a surveillance video released by the Seattle Police Department.
There were three intentionally-set fires set in the High Point Neighborhood as well. That included two cars being set on fire and a fire in an entryway of a commercial building in the 6500 block of 35th Avenue SW, according to police.
When the first fire was reported, Davis said police believed it was kids being kids. When the second one came along, they knew they had something more serious on their hands.
“We took a harder look at that and said ‘this doesn’t happen in West Seattle,” Davis said.
The suspected arsonist is believed to be setting the fires between 1-4 a.m. There is a $10,000 award fund for the case.
