A car drove halfway into the Rainier Health and Fitness (RHF) gym in South Seattle on Sunday, the company announced via social media.
The car crashed into the facility at approximately 7 p.m. Sunday night near the gym’s location at 7222 Rainier Ave S. The cause of the crash was due to a driver swerving to avoid a collision with another vehicle.

RHF noted the main part of the gym was closed on Monday but reopened the following day. Parts of the building remained boarded up, awaiting the completion of repairs.
The gym’s staff cleaned the debris from the collision on Sunday night, ensuring the area was safe for customers and fully cleaned. Staff later assessed the damage on Monday.
“I described it before as the glass was like sand, in that we were finding pieces of glass everywhere, and in every piece of the equipment,” a witness told KIRO 7.
No injuries were reported as a result of the collision into the side of the building.
Gym staff estimated the damages to be more than $50,000 to repair the building and replace the equipment damaged in the crash, according to KING 5.
RHF provided a way to donate towards repairs and recovery costs, allowing the gym to continue serving the community.
“Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this unexpected situation. We are grateful for our community and thankful for all who have reached out,” RHF stated.
