Stage 1 burn ban called for King County

Officials with the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency said Sunday that due to sustained stagnant weather conditions and rising air pollution, a Stage 1 burn ban has been called for King County.

The burn ban went into effect at 2 p.m. on Sunday.

A Stage 1 burn ban for Pierce and Snohomish counties, with the exception of the City of Darrington, remains in effect.

“Air quality continues to deteriorate across the Puget Sound region. A high pressure system remains over Western Washington, causing cold and calm weather conditions and preventing wind from blowing away air pollution.”
