At least 28 Starbucks closing in WA, including 10 in Seattle

Starbucks is laying off around 900 employees and closing several stores in the U.S. and Canada to refocus on a turnaround, The Associated Press reported earlier this week.

The coffee giant is closing at least 28 stores in Washington, including nine in Seattle, KIRO 7 confirmed.

Seattle Starbucks stores closing

In Seattle, two stores are closing in Queen Anne. One is located at 425 Queen Anne Avenue N. in Uptown, Lower Queen Anne, while the other is the pickup store at 100 Denny Way.

The Seattle Reserve Roastery — the first roastery the company created — located in Capitol Hill at 1124 Pike Street, is permanently closing.

The Starbucks Reserve store in Seattle’s SoDo neighborhood is also permanently shutting down.

In Aurora, the Starbucks at 13025 Aurora Avenue N. is closing. The Starbucks at 2200 N.W. Market Street in Ballard is also shuttering its doors.

The Eastlake Starbucks, at 2344 Eastlake Avenue E., is closing, as is the Starbucks at 800 5th Avenue.

Farther south, the Starbucks at 4115 4th Avenue S. is closing.

Bellevue

The Starbucks at 15600 N.E. 8th Street in Bellevue is closing.

Bothell

In Bothell, the Thrasher’s Corner Starbucks at 2020 Maltby Road is closing.

Covington

Similarly, the Starbucks at 921 Magill Drive in Covington is also affected by the closures.

Edmonds

The Starbucks at 21920 Highway 99 in Edmonds is closing.

Kirkland

Downtown Kirkland’s Starbucks, located at 116 Lake Street, is closing its doors.

Lynnwood

Meanwhile, in Lynnwood, two Starbucks locations are closing, one at 19931 Pacific Highway and the other at 2902 164th Street S.W.

Mill Creek

The Mill Creek Town Center Starbucks at 15517 Main Street is closing.

Redmond

In Redmond, Starbucks is closing the location at 8867 161st Avenue N.E.

Ritzville

Ritzville’s 101 W. Galbreath Way location is closing.

Shoreline

In Shoreline, the Starbucks at 14359 15th Avenue N.E. is closing.

Snoqualmie

Snoqualmie has one store closing at 7730 Center Boulevard S.E.

Spokane

Starbucks is closing three locations in Spokane, at 1821 N. Hamilton Street, 2703 N. Division Street, and 9335 N. Newport Highway.

Sumner

One store is closing in Sumner, at 2418 136th Avenue Court E.

Vancouver

Also, one store in Vancouver, at 304 W. 8th Street, will be closing.

Woodinville

The 13780 N.E. 175th Street location in Woodinville is closing. 

Yakima

Lastly, Yakima has two Starbucks stores closing at 1312 S. 1st Street and 602 E. Yakima Avenue.

The Starbucks app will be updated by Sunday to reflect the closures, KIRO 7 stated.

Starbucks is closing stores “where we’re unable to create the physical environment our customers and partners expect, or where we don’t see a path to financial performance,” the company stated.

Starbucks announced that it expects to end its fiscal year with 18,300 stores in North America, down 124 from last year.
