A 15-car collision near Easton that forced the closure of I-90 eastbound has now been cleared, the Washington Department of Transportation reported Sunday night. The highway was closed at milepost 34 near North Bend.

The highway opened sooner than expected. So far there have been no major injuries reported.

It has been snowing heavily at the pass.

WSDOT also reported that US 97 Blewett Pass was closed due to a collision. It has since reopened.

Drivers are being asked to keep speeds down as that was what appeared to cause this collision.

Weather, in general, was worse today that had been predicted.

Some snow and sleet hit parts of the metro area today. In South King County and Pierce County, the National Weather Service reported 1-2 inches of snow Sunday afternoon.

Tonight: A 30 percent chance of rain before 10pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 30. Southeast wind around 5 mph becoming light and variable in the evening.
Monday:  Mostly cloudy, with a high near 39. Light northeast wind.

The Monday morning commute looks treacherous. With temperatures hovering around freezing or below, ice will be a major component of the drive.

KIRO 7 meteorologist Frankie Katafias writes in the weather blog:

Sunday into Monday morning the refreezing of melted snow on roadways is possible yet again raises concerns for early morning commuters. With showers lingering in the forecast, early morning and late-night flurries are not out of the question Monday but expect mostly dry conditions sandwiched in between as a weak upper-level ridge develops.
