Suspect in murder of Lakewood store owner turns himself in; second suspect at large

Lakewood police say a suspect in the murder and robbery of a Lakewood convenience store owner has turned himself in.

Bonifacio Alvarez Reynolds, 20, is in custody as of Tuesday afternoon. Police have also recovered the the vehicle used in the getaway. Alvarez Reynolds was the suspect that drove the car on the night of the crime, according to police.

In Choe, the 59-year-old owner of the McChord Mart, was stabbed to death during a robbery on the night of Oct. 14.

Police say the suspect that went into the store was identified as 24-year-old Marcus Louise Williams. He remains at large.

Lakewood police said a plan was put together to arrest Williams when he checked in with his probation officer Tuesday morning and then arrest Reynolds shortly after. Neither man showed up for the appointment.

Officers are asking for the public’s help in finding Williams, who could be armed.

Investigators said surveillance video showed Choe was stabbed multiple times. The victim’s son, Elijah Choe, said the attack happened just before the store was set to close at 10 p.m. Lakewood police released photos of one suspect as well as surveillance video.
