T-Mobile brings back unlimited data

While major carriers have begun capping data use, Bellevue-based T-Mobile says it’s bringing back unlimited data plans to better compete with AT&T and Verizon.
The company announced Wednesday it will start selling an unlimited-data plan on Sept. 5. It stopped sales of its previous unlimited-data plans early last year.
T-Mobile USA is the country’s fourth-largest cellphone carrier, with 33.2 million subscribers.
The plan will cost between $69.99 and $89.99 per month, depending on the type of phone being used.
Both AT&T and Verizon this year dropped unlimited data plans.
On Tuesday, number five carrier MetroPCS Communications Inc. cut the price of its unlimited-data plan from $70 to $55 per month. It includes unlimited texting and calls.
Number three carrier Sprint Nextel Corp. already has an unlimited-data plan, and credits that with helping it attract customers for its smartphones.
T-Mobile says it will continue to offer its other data plans as well.
