All lanes of northbound I-5 through Tacoma were shut down following a fatal collision. Lanes were reopened close to 3:30 p.m.
According to Washington State Trooper Johnna Batiste, the incident involved a motorcycle. Witnesses indicated that the motorcyclist “may have been attempting to make a lane change when he struck another vehicle in the process.” The driver of that vehicle reportedly drove away, fleeing the scene.
All traffic on the freeway was halted for roughly two hours at milepost 132, near South M Street in Tacoma.
During that time, all lanes of northbound I-5 were diverted.
ROADWAY IS OPEN.
