Tacoma mother says ‘voices’ told her to kill son

Apr 2, 2012, 10:53 AM | Updated: 12:17 pm

A Tacoma woman who told police she heard voices in her head
that told her to kill her 2-year-old son was charged
Monday morning with First Degree Murder.

Aleesha Walker, 28, called 911 Friday morning saying she
had just “murdered her child.”

Police found the toddler lying naked on the floor with blood
on his face, while the mother had dried blood on her hands
and knees. Pierce County Prosecutor Mark Lindquist says she
allegedly told officers at the scene “God knows what I
did…I’m bad for doing what I did, I did it to the baby,
he’s gone.”

The child died at Tacoma’s Mary Bridge Hospital a short time
after arrival. The Pierce County Medical Examiner
determined the likely cause of death was smothering.

Lindquist says Child Protective Services received several
referrals for Walker prior to the killing.

Walker will be arraigned Monday afternoon at 1:30 p.m.
