Two women shot, killing one and injuring another, in early-morning shooting in south Tacoma

The Tacoma Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred early Sunday morning on E. 91st Street, about two blocks east of Pacific Avenue.
Someone first reported the shooting to police at approximately 12:30 a.m. Sunday near E. Sherwood Street and E. 91st Street in the Larchmont area of Tacoma. Officers arrived minutes later and found two females injured from a shooting. The officers who first arrived immediately began life-saving first aid. Tacoma Fire Department medics arrived soon after and took over medical care.
One of the victims did not survive and was pronounced dead at the scene. Medics transported the other female victim to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
“One of them was transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening wounds. They’re in stable condition,” Tacoma Police Public Information Officer Shelbie Boyd told KIRO Newsradio. “Then there was a second woman who died of their wounds.”
So far, police have not identified any suspects or taken anyone into custody. Boyd revealed that investigators have documented at least 100 shell casings.
Authorities are investigating the incident as a homicide, with detectives and crime scene technicians examining what led to the shooting and identifying any suspects.
“There’s a lot of evidence they’re putting together, a lot of interviews being held to try to get somebody in custody for this,” Boyd added.
They are asking anyone who has information regarding the shooting to contact the department by calling 911, as the suspect or suspects are still on the loose.
