Take a spin around the Space Needle’s ‘Loupe’

Aug 2, 2018, 9:17 AM

The Space Needle’s highly-anticipated revolving glass floor was unveiled Thursday as the latest completed piece of a $100 million renovation project.

Known as “The Loupe,” the floor will be part of a new lounge.

KIRO Radio reporter Mike Lewis got a sneak peek.

Guests will be able to get to it by walking down a new giant spiral staircase, known as the Oculus Stairs, from the observation deck level.

The public will have access to the floor beginning at 8 a.m. on Friday.

The Space Needle’s renovation project is nearing completion. The temporary wrap that surrounded the top of the tower was removed in May. The improved observation deck opened the same month.
