Teen boy shot in the face on JBLM property

A teen has been rushed to the hospital after being shot in the face on Joint Base Lewis-McChord.
The boy was on military base property with two other friends when the gun went off around 3 p.m. The incident occurred around 150th Street and Woodbrook Drive in Lakewood, which borders the base.
“They snuck up into the wooden area. A firearm went off, one of them was struck in the face,” said Lt. John Unfred with the Lakewood Police Department.
“We don’t think they are [associated with JBLM], we believe they live in Woodbrook,” he said.
It is unclear who had possession of the gun when it went off.
The base police have taken over the investigation, and Lakewood police are assisting.
The teen was taken to Tacoma’s Mary Bridge Hospital, and is reportedly in serious to critical condition, according to KOMO News.
