Monkeypox cases increase while people search for vaccines
King County health officials say the number of cases of Monkeypox is doubling every week.
And while they have received some 4,700 doses of vaccine, they need an unobtainable 80,000.
KIRO7 TV’s DeeDee Sun says every community should be aware of the risks.
Some people in King County recently went to Vancouver, B.C., to get a vaccine.
Canada has an ample supply.
Earthquake rumbles near Enumclaw
A small earthquake rumbled near Enumclaw and Black Diamond Thursday, according to the United States Geological Survey.
A 3.19 magnitude earthquake shook a few people up around 6:22 a.m. southeast of Black Diamond.
According to the USGS, the depth was approximately 18.2 km.
Everett starts new shuttle service between North Everett and the marina
The city of Everett begins free bus rides, Thursday, Aug. 4, linking downtown and the marina to some hotels in the North Everett area.
The service is called “Wheels to the Waterfront” and the Everett Herald says the Thursday-through-Saturday service will continue most weeks through September.
Free rides begin at 6 p.m.
Officials hope people will use the service to attend events at the Port of Everett, such as “Music at the Marina” and “Food Truck Fridays.”
Father of missing girl released from jail
After being locked up in Grays Harbor County since March the father of a missing girl is out of jail.
Andrew Carlson’s 5-year-old daughter Oakley Carlson has been missing for a year and a half now.
Carlson pleaded guilty to felony endangerment involving his other children.
Former foster mom Jamie Jo Hiles says lawmakers could help find Oakley.
Neither Carlson nor Oakley’s mom are charged with Oakley’s disappearance.
Constantine reports investigation into inmate death
A King County jail inmate has died, five days after being taken to the hospital.
County Executive Dow Constantine says early reports indicate all safety rules were followed when jail staff found the inmate in medical trouble last week.
Jail managers are not releasing any information on what may have caused the 59-year-old man’s death.
Executive Constantine says an investigation is underway and results will help determine if any policies should be changed.
Pierce county institutes fire ban as wildfires rage across state
Pierce County joins the list with its outdoor burn ban in unincorporated areas beginning 12 a.m. Friday Aug. 5.
No yard debris can be burned outside.
Small recreational fires in public fire pits or on private property will still be legal, but only if the wind is under 5 miles an hour.
Self-contained gas and propane stoves and barbecues.
