Burglars in Snohomish County appear to be trolling the obituaries to find out when people will be attending funerals so they can steal stuff while they’re away.

It’s happened six times this year in Snohomish, Marysville and north Snohomish County.

People returning from grieving for their loved ones at funerals are finding their homes trashed and their possessions stolen. Thieves are apparently getting funeral details from the obituaries.

And the thieves are not just taking cash, jewelry and electronics. They are making off with sentimental keepsakes as well.

The Everett Herald reports police are telling people to have a friend watch their homes if they are going to be attending a funeral that has been advertised.
