Update: Washington State Department of Transportation reports that all lanes on southbound and northbound I-5 near Castle Rock are open once again.

“This was a 22 vehicle collision, involving multiple commercial vehicles & passenger cars. 6 people were transported to 3 area hospitals before troopers arrived on scene,” Washington State Trooper Will Finn reported on X.

Despite opening all lanes, there still was a reported 10-12 mile traffic delay. That is expected to slowly clear Thursday evening.

Original Article:

All lanes of Interstate 5 (I-5) north are back open, while only the right lane on I-5 south is open near Castle Rock and Toledo, as reported by The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) on X Thursday.

A disabled semi-truck was blocking all lanes of I-5 north at milepost 56, just south of Jackson Highway. A collision was blocking all lanes of I-5 south at milepost 60 near Exit 59 by the Cowlitz River.

WSDOT stated to expect delays.

WSDOT sent out a separate X post, saying to delay travel if possible.

“If you do need to head out, expect significant delays,” the agency stated. “Be prepared w/ a full gas tank, water, food, warm clothes, and anything else you’ll need for sitting in backups.”

This is a developing story, check back for updates.
