Detectives have focused on some people of interest and believe there is no threat to Narrows View, Drum, and Curtis schools in the University Place School District. The sheriff’s office is still working with district during Friday classes.

“There was a kid who is a junior high school student at Curtis, we obtained some electronic devices we are taking a look at, doing some interviews, and checking with neighbors to see if they may have accessed his internet,” said Detective Ed Troyer with the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office.

“No weapons, no past, no history,” he said. “We are still working it, and we do believe there is no credible threat.”

Troyer said that the junior high student has friends near his home who also access his internet connection.

Deputies said the concerning post was shared on Instagram and threatened violence at the three schools. That post was from someone calling themselves “K-K-K,” and threatened to shoot up Narrows View, Drum, and Curtis schools Friday.

Schools will be open on Friday, but there will be increased security.
