Coronavirus cases double on Everett-based USS Kidd

The Navy is reporting its second coronavirus outbreak, this time on the Everett-based destroyer USS Kidd.
The Kidd joins aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt in dealing with an outbreak. There are now 33 cases of COVID-19 on the Kidd.

Using lessons learned from the outbreak on the Roosevelt, the Navy moved quickly to isolate and treat the cases on the Kidd. Two sailors were immediately evacuated to hospitals in the U.S. The Kidd is currently on a drug interdiction mission off the coast of Central America.
A medical ship has also been deployed to meet with the Kidd to provide additional care. The ship and its crew of 350 will soon return to Everett.
The Roosevelt remains docked in Guam as it deals with 800 cases. There are nearly 90 Navy ships deployed around the world right now. So far, only these two are reporting cases.
