The fire is out, but the smoke lingers along with a traffic backup on southbound I-5 from downtown Seattle to North 85th Street.

A car fire blocked two right lanes of southbound I-5 under the Yesler overpass in downtown Seattle, Wednesday afternoon, but it has since been cleared. The nearby James Street exit remains closed.

Backups on southbound I-5 reach from downtown Seattle to North 85th Street. The Washington State Department of Transportation recommends that drivers find alternative routes to get around the blockage.

The fire sent massive plumes of smoke and caused low visibility on the freeway.
