Amazon says it gave delivery partner 30 days’ notice before layoffs after partner claimed it only had 1 day

A package delivery service in Washington laid off 120 employees on Monday and closed its business after its only client, Amazon, ended its contract with the company.
2EZY LLC said in the filing it had only one day’s notice before the layoffs, but Amazon told KIRO Newsradio Tuesday it gave the company 30 days.
Amazon spokesperson Leigh Anne Gullett said the company notified 2EZY LLC that it will not renew its Delivery Service Partner (DSP) program agreement on Sept. 1, providing the company 30 days’ notice. Gullett clarified that the notification was “not on the last business day before the WARN filing, as the company has claimed.”
“2EZY LLC is exiting the Delivery Service Partner program,” Gullett wrote in a statement. “We’re working to connect impacted 2EZY LLC employees with other DSPs in the area. The Airway Heights facility continues to operate as usual, and customers can expect the same delivery experience.”
The WARN Act requires employers to provide 60 days’ notice of a layoff or closure to the state, all affected employees, and the chief elected official of the affected community.

2EZY LLC, an independent business contracted by Amazon to deliver its packages to customers, will cease operations at its DSK4 and HGE2 facilities located at 12315 W McFarlane Road in Airway Heights, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) filing.
The company claimed an unanticipated notice from Amazon led to the late submission.
“We only learned of this action from our only client, Amazon, in the last business day,” 2EZY wrote. “This was unforeseeable — it was simply not possible for us to provide more advance notice of this action.”
Gullett noted that Amazon is currently facilitating connections between 2EZY’s employees and other DSPs in the area that may have job openings.
Of the 120 employees, 109 are drivers, along with five dispatch workers, four helpers, one administrative assistant, and one manager.
The closure is expected to be permanent, with all 120 employees being separated from the company on Sept. 30.
