WA among 13 states hit by expanded jasmine rice recall covering 27K+ packages

A jasmine rice recall has expanded to 13 states, including Washington, encompassing more than 27,300 packages of product from Lundberg Family Farms.
The initial recall surfaced on April 3, after reports of “potential contamination with foreign materials” were confirmed.
The recalled rice spanned states including California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Vermont, Washington, and Wisconsin.
The jasmine rice was sold in Walgreens, Walmart, Target, Whole Foods, and Giant stores, though Wegmans was the only company to issue the recall, according to People Magazine. The recall page on Wegmans website has since been removed.
Recalled products came in lots “260201MA” and “260202MA” with best-before dates February 1, 2027, and February 2, 2027, respectively.
Consumers are advised to check their pantry for the product
This recall also carries a Class II designation, meaning the “use of or exposure to a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences,” according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
