Washington may typically be a blue stronghold for liberal voters, but there’s still some big money in the state financially committed to the GOP.
Puget Sound Business Journal compiled a list of local employers with workers contributing the most money to Trump’s 2020 re-election bid. Boeing leads the pack.
The Seattle-based aviation company has seen 35 employees donate a total of $10,446.46 to the Trump campaign, averaging $298.47 a person. In a distant second is Microsoft, boasting 13 donors totaling $4,152.78.
Amazon follows closely behind the fellow tech giant, with seven donors giving a total of $1,653.76.
The full list:
- Boeing: $10,446.46, 35 donors
- Microsoft: $4,152.78, 13 donors
- Amazon: $1,653.76, 7 donors
- Costco: $1,507.50, 3 donors
- Alaska Airlines: $957.75, 4 donors
- T-Mobile: $657.50, donors
- Nordstrom: $576, 2 donors
- City of Seattle: $450, 1 donor
- Providence: $252.42, 1 donor
- Univ. of Washington: $187.50, 1 donor
It’s worth looking at the larger context when considering these numbers. For example, Boeing employs approximately 80,000 people in Washington, meaning that .04 percent of its in-state workforce has donated to Trump’s re-election bid. Similarly, 0.03 percent of Microsoft’s 42,000 Washington employees did the same.
Puget Sound Business Journal gathered its information from the Federal Election Commission, and included only individual contributions, excluding donations made to political action committees.
