The Seattle Mariners were named for the city’s maritime heritage, and now the team is receiving an honor worthy of their name, by naming the city’s maritime vessels for the team.

Washington Gov. Jay Inslee has ordered all Washington state ferry names be changed, temporarily, to honor the M’s as they continue their postseason run.

Washington ferry ridership at highest since start of pandemic

From now through the postseason, all 21 vessels in the fleet have been renamed.

The ferries were renamed after players and team personnel.

“We are so proud of our Mariners for finally breaking our playoff drought and giving our fans the excitement of postseason baseball!” Inslee said. “This honorary name change is a way to show our appreciation and for fans to feel even closer to the team by riding Motor/Vessel Juliooooooooooo, M/V Cal ‘Big Dumper’ Raleigh, M/V Mariners ‘Good Vibes Only’ and the rest. Go Mariners!”
