Health officials to release details on possible vaping illness in Washington state

King County and state health officials are set to release information on Wednesday afternoon about a possible vaping-related illness in Washington.

King County issues warning against risks posed by vaping

KIRO 7 asked the state Department of Health for more details about the case, but wouldn’t release any information before their 1 p.m. news conference.

As of Aug. 30, no confirmed cases have been reported in Washington state, according to King County health officials.

U.S. health officials are investigating what might be causing hundreds of serious breathing illnesses in people who use e-cigarettes and vaping devices.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, they have identified about 450 possible cases in 33 states.

Five deaths have been confirmed in California, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota and Oregon. A sixth death was confirmed Tuesday in Kansas.
