Seattle rallies together on social media in face of coronavirus crisis

As concerns over the coronavirus continued Thursday, Seattle businesses, arts, and even its everyday citizens rallied together on social media under a simple message: “We got this, Seattle.”
The #WeGotThisSeattle hashtag began to surface on Twitter Thursday morning, with UW Medicine, the Seattle Symphony, the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, the Woodland Park Zoo, Canlis, and others chiming in with their support.

That’s come as many local businesses have gotten creative in a bid to help employees and customers alike.
Canlis announced Thursday that it would be closing its dining room, but opening up takeout bagel stand, a burger pick-up station for lunch, and a meal delivery service with a range of roughly seven miles.
“Fine dining is not what Seattle needs right now,” the popular high-end restaurant said on Facebook. “Instead, this is one idea for safely creating jobs for our employees while serving as much of the city as we can.”
This comes as other restaurants in Seattle have been forced to shut their doors and furlough staff. For many of those out-of-work cooks and servers, QFC is offering up “a couple hundred positions with special focus on e-commerce clerks.” Interested applicants can show up to the Bellevue QFC corporate office at 10112 NE 10th Street, “and be prepared for an interview and [to] be hired on the spot” at a 2 p.m. Monday hiring event.
Meanwhile, the Seattle Symphony began offering video broadcasts and livestreams of its performances Thursday night, “to share strength, comfort and unity with our community in Seattle and around the world as we confront (coronavirus).”
Also offering live streaming options for viewers is the Seattle Office of Film and Music, with a matinee performance of More Music at the Moore Theater Friday morning.
Seattle’s Human Services Department is offering lunches for students every weekday at 26 school sites across the city.
Other Seattleites chimed in on Twitter using the #WeGotThisSeattle hashtag with work-from-home stories, support for local businesses, and kind words for health officials working to stem the spread of coronavirus in Washington.
