Several events on Saturday are expected to bring extra traffic congestion to the Seattle area.
The Washington State Department of Transportation is warning drivers to leave early and encouraging people to consider taking public transit, biking or carpooling to their destinations around the city.
The big events begin at 1 p.m. Saturday when the Sounders meet Chivas USA at CenturyLink Field. At the same time, crowds will be making their way to Husky Stadium in the University District as UW takes on Stanford at 1:15 p.m.
Risk of additional traffic congestion remains in the evening with the Mariners taking on the Angels at Safeco Field beginning at 6:10 p.m. and Sir Elton John taking the stage at KeyArena at 8 p.m.
There is no roadwork scheduled during the event times, but two lanes of each direction of SR 99 from South Spokane Street to South Atlantic Street will be closed from 11:59 p.m. Saturday to 8 a.m. Sunday for pavement repair.
