A Thursday wind advisory has now expired, with warm, sunny weather in the forecast for Memorial Day weekend.

Check weather for the Puget Sound region

Tukwila’s Showalter Middle School shut down Thursday afternoon because of a power outage, though equipment failure is the suspected cause. King County closed the COVID-19 testing site at Enumclaw Middle School due to high winds.

Areas from Everett and north to Whidbey Island were the breeziest locations on Thursday, according to the NWS. Measured gusts of: 50 mph on Camano Island, 42 mph on Lopez Island, 45 mph at Paine Field Everett, 44 mph at Bellingham airport, and 40 mph at JBLM.

Rain and wind are expected to die down on Friday, leading into a warmer, sunnier Memorial Day weekend, with highs sitting at 70 degrees in the Seattle area on Saturday, 76 degrees on Sunday, and then 80 degrees on Monday.

If temperatures do get up to 80 degrees by Monday, that will mark the first such day in the region of the month to close out May.
