Windstorm knocks out power to thousands of people

Residents of Western Washington didn’t get much of a break from windstorms.
Strong winds blew in Tuesday, knocking out power to about 50,000 Puget Sound Energy customers. Most of those customers live on Bainbridge Island, in Bremerton and Poulsbo.

Puget Sound Energy reports 16,950 customers were still without power as of 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Up to 2,000 Seattle City Light customers, mostly centered in Burien, were also without power Tuesday. That number was reduced to 14 by 5:00 p.m.
The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory for areas of the north interior and the Kitsap Peninsula until 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday. Gusts were expected to reach 55 MPH.
The strong winds combined with a king tide are producing coastal flooding and big waves.
