Wintry mix seen in some areas of Western Washington

Some areas of Western Washington were hit with a wintry mix of rain and snow Monday morning, after snow levels dropped down to about 500 feet.
By the end of the morning commute, drier conditions with partly sunny skies replaced the winter-like weather.
Snoqualmie Pass closed after fatal crash, spinouts
Snoqualmie Pass was closed to traffic until 8 a.m. Monday morning after a fatal crash and numerous spinouts overnight amid heavy snowfall.
Chains are now required for all vehicles except all wheel drives.
Westbound I-90 was closed near Ellensburg and the eastbound lanes were closed near North Bend. The closure began around 11 p.m. Sunday.
There was heavy snowfall and white out conditions in the summit area. At one point Sunday night, the Washington State Patrol said that more than 20 cars crashed along a 10-mile stretch.
WSP said there were numerous vehicles that were not equipped with chains that spun out and crashed.
Among the crashes was one that killed a pregnant woman and her unborn child when the car she was in left the road, hit a guardrail and plummeted 20 feet down an embankment.
