Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers found an unusual and potentially dangerous claw-like item in a carry-on bag at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA).

TSA described the steel claw as a cross between the claws worn by Wolverine from “X-Men” and Freddy Krueger.

Officers spotted the steel claw during X-ray screening and confirmed it during a bag search.

“We’ve kind of heard it all over the years at the checkpoint. I think sometimes that people, if they don’t have bad intent, just aren’t really thinking this is still a weapon,” TSA spokesperson Jessica Mayle said.

The passenger voluntarily surrendered the claw at the checkpoint to avoid missing his flight.

“TSA does not confiscate prohibited items,” Mayle said. “We give passengers options; you can check your bag, you can give it to a non-traveling family member or friend, you can take it back to your car. Passengers who are kinda in a rush to catch their flight often abandon it at the checkpoint.”

TSA officials recommend passengers check TSA.gov to learn what is allowed in a carry-on bag, and to check before they fly.
