A 33-year-old Seattle woman was killed on I-5 early Monday morning after Washington State Patrol (WSP) troopers said she jumped from a moving vehicle and was then struck by at least one other car.
Investigators said the incident unfolded on I‑5 when the woman exited a moving vehicle and ended up in the roadway. A second vehicle that hit her appears to be connected to the victim in some way.
“The second vehicle that struck the individual was related, or friends, or something,” WSP Trooper Rick Johnson said.
Detectives said they are still working to determine what led to the woman jumping from the vehicle, and to clarify the relationship between the woman and the people in the second vehicle.
All involved drivers remained at the scene and are cooperating with the investigation. The woman’s name has not yet been released.
Several lanes of I‑5 were closed for hours while officers documented the scene, causing major traffic delays in the area.
