Woman leads troopers in high-speed chase through Snohomish County

A 26-year-old woman led state troopers on a high-speed chase on southbound I-5 in Snohomish County Tuesday morning.
Trooper Mark Francis said the woman from Olympia topped speeds of 110 miles per hour before spike strips blew out her tires.
The chase started around 10 a.m. at the Snohomish-Skagit county line after a trooper had stopped her for driving at 95 miles per hour.
While the trooper was checking her registration and ID back at his car, the woman took off.
That’s when the pursuit began.
Francis said they had to terminate the chase at one point near a construction zone at the Stilliguamish River bridge. The chase resumed and after a series of spike strips, they stopped the woman’s car near the I-405 interchange in Lynnwood.
Other than passing a car on the left shoulder, Francis said the woman didn’t do anything too dangerous.
“When we did take her in custody, we asked her ‘hey, why did you leave the stop’ and she said, ‘I thought the trooper was done with me,'” Francis said.
The woman told the first trooper she had a medical condition. Francis said she was taken to Swedish Edmonds hospital.
The left lane of I-5 at 164th was closed for the investigation, but reopened around 11:30 a.m.
