A woman’s body has been recovered in the water at Me-Kwa-Mooks Park in West Seattle.

Witnesses called 911 Thursday morning after seeing a person floating face-down in the water about 20 feet from shore.

Firefighters recovered the body of a woman, believed to about 50s year old, from the water and the King County Medical Examiner will make an identification and determine the cause of death.

Detectives say they’re working with the Medical Examiner as the investigation continues, but said at this point, there does not appear to be any foul play.

Me-Kwa-Mooks Park has since reopened.

This isn’t the first time the body of a woman has been found at the park. In March 2012, Greggette Guy, 51, was found dead just offshore.

Police ruled Guy’s death a homicide. Detectives believed she had parked her car in the area on the evening of March 11 and planned to take a walk along the beach.

Police said they’re not making any connection between the two incidents.
