Woodinville says ‘yes’ to surveillance cameras to combat crime

Seattle said “no” to police surveillance cameras, but Woodinville is saying “yes.” Police cameras will go up there to help combat crime.
The Woodinville City Council voted 5-to-1 Tuesday night to allow the police to put up surveillance cameras alongside roads and on public spaces.
The cameras would not be monitored all the time, and the police would only use them to try and identify suspects or suspect cars. They would only be used during crimes or after crimes.
The Seattle Times reports the city will spend $55,000 on the pilot project to see if the cameras impact the crime rate.
Polls of business leaders show support for the program, but the general public does not want them.
