Would you help a friend or family member who committed a crime?

She’s accused of helping the killer of State Trooper Tony
Radulescu after last week’s shooting. But the father of
Josh Blake’s former girlfriend insists she’s a victim too.

“She told me she did not know what to do, she was totally
frightened,” her father told reporters outside her
arraignment.

Jessi Foster reportedly suffered repeated physical abuse
from Blake and was reportedly dominated by the alleged
killer.

“I could see a scenario where she says, ‘Look I’m terrified of this guy. I never know what he’s going to do next and
when he calls me my first thought is, oh man he’s going to
hurt me if I don’t help him with this’,” said Ross and
Burbank co-host Luke Burbank.

Both Burbank and co-host Dave Ross also say while they
hope all of the six people who allegedly helped Blake
after the shooting would have called police as soon as
they knew what happened, they understand why at the very
least an 18-year-old girl in the car with Blake didn’t, or
couldn’t.

“If this guy has gunned down a trooper and you’re in the
car when he guns down the trooper, you’re going to be
pretty scared, right? You’re not going to whip out your
cell phone and call 911 until you’re alone,” said Ross.

Comparisons are being made to the friends and family of
Maurice Clemmons, the Pierce County man who killed four
Lakewood police officers. Several were convicted for
helping and hiding him after the shootings.

But Ross and Burbank say they want to see the timeline and
charges before rushing to judgment given the Clemmons case
involved a much longer period of time when there was no
imminent threat to any of the family and friends.

But on Seattle’s Morning News, host Bill Radke admitted he
can understand why people would protect a friend or family
member.

Radke recounted playing a board game with family members
who had to choose a response to a scenario. When posed
with a case where his spouse was guilty of murder and he
knew it, while Radke says he would turn her in, his fellow
players unanimously said they wouldn’t.

“It is tough to admit you might do the same thing in a
similar situation,” said co-host Linda Thomas.

“It’s easy to say they obviously should not help but if
that’s your own brother you might look at it a little
differently. I might have a hard time with that,” Thomas
said.

Still, while the hosts say they can understand the
motivations, they absolutely oppose protecting the accused
killer.

“That to me is a very serious thing and you absolutely
should be held responsible for that,” said Burbank.
