If you’re looking for something really awesome to do this Wednesday night I suggest you head to the Rendezvous Jewel Box Theatre and check out Karling. Rockabilly is what Karling does best, she’s just released her new album Bound For Nowhere and she’s really taking the globe by storm having played all over the States and Europe. Here’s a little something about Karling from her website…
The U.K.-born honky tonk performer– recently nominated for a 2010 Hollywood Music In Media Award under the Americana/Roots category for her titled track, ‘Miss Fortune’ – is known for her eclectic sound, earning her comparisons to Patsy Cline, Tammy Wynette and June Carter. She’s even been described as “Wanda Jackson meets Gwen Stefani, who puts in a conference call to David Bowie who’s lunching with the Stray Cats.â€
Check my interview with Karling below. You’ll discover that there is in fact a difference between Rockabilly and Country music, whether or not Karling has seen the movie The Human Centipede and what she really misses about living in England.
So if you’re in the mood for a spittoon filling, geetar picking, whiskey swilling sort of night then you need to get down to the Rendezvous Jewel Box Theatre and fall in love with Karling.
