Father of girl that accused Venoy Overton of rape: I knew he would show his colors

After Venoy Overton was arrested for allegedly promoting prostitution. The father of a 16-year-old girl that previously accused Overton of rape told 97.3 KIRO FM’s Dori Monson that he wasn’t all that surprised by the news.
“I wasn’t surprised, but I thought he could wait at least a year and get out of being implicated with my daughter’s thing. I thought it might be two or three years but I knew he would show his colors,” said the father, whom we won’t name.
University of Washington men’s basketball coach Lorenzo Romar released a statement after Overton’s arrest:
“I have been informed of the arrest of Venoy Overton and I am extremely disappointed. My staff and I spent an extraordinary amount of time and energy attempting to mentor Venoy prior to his recent graduation, so this news is especially troubling.”
“If Coach Romar and his staff’s mentoring turned an accused rapist into an accused pimp, I should applaud him. What he should have done is nipped it in the bud with my daughter’s incident, and then maybe he could have saved the girl in the May incident, the one we’re talking about right now,” was the 16-year-old girl’s father.
