Research confirms: Monday mornings are depressing

Stephanie writes…

It’s Monday, ugh, and everyone is talking about the latest research confirming that, indeed, Monday mornings really suck.

According to the Marmite study reported by the Telegraph, most of us don’t even crack a smile until 11:16 a.m. on Mondays. That’s probably because most of us are late to work after struggling to crack open our eyelids after the weekend.

Experts say we’re also only capable of producing three and a half hours of real work. (So not true, Mr. Boss, I swear). If you’re between 45 and 54-years-old, you feel it the most and you’ll make that fact known for about 12 minutes.

Warming up slowly may serve “the suits” because the study shows if we show up firing with all pistons, chances are we’ll burn out before the end of the week.

The Marmite study suggested five ways to beat the Monday blues: Watch TV, have sex, shop online, buy chocolate or make-up, and plan a vacation.

So how has your Monday been so far? Have you smiled yet? Did you forget your lunch on the counter? Or, like me, did you drop your oatmeal and burn your feet?
