The police lip-sync trend has spread to Washington state, but the Seattle Police Department is not alone when it comes to this musical challenge.

At least three other Washington police departments were challenged to record a lip-sync performance. Did they do as well as the popular Norfolk Police Department video that recently went viral? You be the judge. One thing is certain, however: Washington police officers have a penchant for ’80s and ’90s pop music and boy bands.

Norfolk challenged Seattle to the lip-sync battle last week. It is unknown exactly how SPD will bring the Seattle spirit or what song they will perform. Though, the internet has a few ideas. SPD has teased that production is on.

Longview Police Department

The standout lip-sync video is the Longview Police Department. Instead of one song, they did four. Aside from Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball” (basically a love letter from one cop to his battering ram) Longview police’s video was a ’90s pop montage featuring Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, and NSYNC.

Longview also put a little production value into its video. What officers may lack in dancing ability, they make up for in enthusiasm and editing.

Kelso Police Department

The Keslo Police Department essentially Rickrolled everybody by performing Rick Astley’s “Never Gonna Give You Up.”

You can view Kelso’s performance here.

 La Center

The La Center Police Department gave the lip-sync job to Officer Andrew Marvitz, who performed Backstreet Boys’ “Larger Than Life” in his patrol car. It is unknown if this was actually for the challenge, or if this is simply what Officer Marvitz does in his spare time.

La Center likely sparked the lip-sync flame in Clark County. It challenged all other departments to lip-sync on July 3, 2018. Neighboring Kelso and Longview soon followed.

You can view Officer Marvitz’s performance here.

Other lip-sync videos?

Police departments across the United States have been challenging each other to the lip-sync performances in an effort to humanize police. The Oregonian has noted a few police departments in the Beaver State that have filmed lip-sync performances, too.

Are there any other Washington state police departments that have filmed more lip-sync videos? Let us know and we’ll include them here.
