Six Baltimore officers charged, one with murder, for Freddie Gray

Charges have been brought against six Baltimore officers related to the death of Freddie Gray, nearly three weeks after his arrest.
Baltimore State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby said Friday that there is probably cause to charge the six Baltimore police officers in the death of Freddie Gray.
“The manner of death, deemed a homicide by the Maryland State Medical Examiner, is believed to be the result of a fatal injury that occurred while Mr. Gray was unrestrained by a seat belt in the custody of the Baltimore Police Department wagon,” Mosby told the press in a conference held Friday morning.
Mosby said that there was no probable cause for Gray’s arrest in April, and noted that the switch blade officers referenced was actually a clipped pocket knife, which is legal.
Gray died after being arrested and placed in the back of a police van. He then suffered a fatal neck injury. Mosbey said that the injury was the result of Gray being handcuffed, shackled and then unrestrained in the back of the van as officers drove through the city.
Officer Ceasar Goodson — the driver of the police wagon — is being charge with second degree depraved-heart murder, involuntary manslaughter, second degree negligent assault, manslaughter by vehicle by means of gross negligence, misconduct in office for failure to secure a prisoner and failure to render aid.
Officer William Porter is being charged with involuntary manslaughter, assault in the second degree, and misconduct in office.
Lt. Brian Rice is being charged with involuntary manslaughter, assault in the second degree, misconduct in office, and false imprisonment.
Officer Edward Nero has been charged with assault in the second degree-intentional and negligent, involuntary manslaughter, assault in the second degree, misconduct in office, and false imprisonment.
Officer Garret Miller is being charged with intentional assault in the second degree, assault in the second degree negligent, misconduct in office and false imprisonment.
Sgt. Alicia White is being charged with manslaughter, involuntary manslaughter, second degree assault, and misconduct in office.
