King, Skagit, and Snohomish counties are expected to be impacted by historic flooding on Thursday as more than 20 rivers have reached either Flood Phase 3 or 4. In response to the extreme weather, several schools and educational establishments will be closed.

King County

The Muckleshoot Tribal School and schools within the Riverview, Skykomish, and Snoqualmie Valley School Districts will be closed Thursday. The Skykomish School District has already announced its campuses will be closed Friday as well.

The Auburn and Enumclaw School Districts will stay open Thursday, but delay the start time for classes by two hours. Franklin Elementary is the only school in the Lake Washington School District that will be delayed by two hours on Thursday.

Lewis County

The White Pass School District will be closed Thursday.

Pierce County

The White River School District in Pierce County announced it will be closed Thursday, while the Orting and Carbonado School Districts are delaying their start times by two hours.

Skagit County

All campuses within Skagit Valley College will be closed for the rest of the week.

“Some finals will be held remotely, and some will be moved to a later date,” the school stated.

Snohomish County

Northwest Regional Learning Center in Snohomish County will be closed on Thursday, but schools within the Snohomish School District will remain open this week, starting two hours later. No out-of-district transportation will be available.

The Sultan School District will also start its day two hours late, but will remain open. Arlington and Lakewood School Districts are following suit with a two-hour delayed day of classes.

North Puget Sound School Districts

In the North Puget Sound, the La Conner, Concrete, and Mount Vernon School Districts announced they will be closed through the rest of the week. The Ferndale School District is closed just on Thursday, as of this reporting.
