I found it very disturbing seeing the president’s deep concern about the election being undermined by the opposing party.

“The officials overseeing counting in Pennsylvania and other key states are all part of a corrupt Democrat machine,” Trump claimed Thursday.

This was vigorously denied by state elections officials of both parties, but who should we believe? A state official nobody’s heard of, or the President of the United States?

So, what to do?

I notice that in some countries, this problem has been solved by simply moving to a one-party state.

In a one-party state, you don’t have these partisan issues because a party can’t disagree with itself.

In a one-party state, if the leader doesn’t like the way the election is going, he can stop it right away. No need for lawsuits, no need for crowds to intimidate the ballot counters.

This keeps the leader happy, and when the leader is happy, since he embodies the will of the people, the people are happy!

That’s one idea that crossed my mind as I watched the speech.

But the speech also inspired another idea having nothing to do with elections — it would be a new rule for the NFL, where if a football team is ahead at the end of the first half, the coach of the winning team can throw a flag and stop the game.

Because how many times does your team build up a decent lead, only to have it snatched away because there’s some dumb rule that says you have to keep playing?
