Is Ted Cruz authentically Cuban?

I don’t recall anyone asking President Obama what his favorite Kenyan dish was, or his being asked to welcome John Edwards out of the race in Kenyan, but maybe I missed it.

It’s not that there’s something inherently wrong with asking about someone’s ethnic background, but I get the sense from this video that Halperin is trying to prove something about the validness of Cruz’s background, which is just creepy.

If so, Halperin wouldn’t be alone. Plenty of leftists have made assertions regarding the “authenticity” of conservatives who also happen to be minorities. It’s part of the Identity Politics racket.
