I rarely cross over into the political world for my Daily Dose of Kindness because I wanted this moment to be completely outside of topics that might induce stress.

However, I’ll make an exception today because I think this could be a healing moment in the political world and those that observe that sphere – a kiss on the skinned knee of American life if you will.

Meghan McCain, the daughter of Republican Senator John McCain, is a host on ABC’s The View. We’ve known for a while now that her dad is receiving treatment for one of the deadliest forms of cancer – Glioblastoma.

She’s been very honest about her grief about his diagnosis and, in a recent taping of The View, confided in former Vice President Joe Biden. His son died after a battle with the same cancer.

She quickly broke down in tears and, without hesitation, he grabbed her hand and started offering hope. The entire exchange is heartfelt and, I believe, genuine.

You can hear Colleen O’Brien’s “Daily Dose of Kindness” segment every morning at 7:30 a.m. on KIRO Radio 97.3 FM.
