Brace yourself: Some of the coldest weather this season is coming next week

Nov 20, 2025, 6:41 AM | Updated: 3:57 pm

Seattle weather is making waves, as November 19, historically the rainiest day in the city, had no rain this year.

Meteorologist Scott Sistek of The Emerald City Weather Blog called it “extremely unusual,” as he joined “Seattle’s Morning News” on KIRO Newsradio to talk about the upcoming Seattle forecast.

“It’s not going to set a record, but it’s extremely unusual, because November 19 is statistically the wettest day in Seattle,” Sistek said. “It is statistically the most frequent day with rain of any other days of the year.”

Meteorologist breaks down Seattle forecast next week

Looking ahead, future forecasts show Seattleites will want to bundle up as teeth-chattering weather is making its way to the Puget Sound next week.

Although the lowlands most likely won’t see any snow, “We are still looking at cooling down next week, and probably some of, I mean, this is going to sound scary, but some of the coldest weather we’ve seen so far this season,” Sistek shared.

However, he noted it’s nothing Seattle isn’t used to. Highs will be in the mid-40s and lows will be in the mid-30s.

“The way I was kind of couching it was that you’re kind of picking up Christmas week weather and moving it to Thanksgiving, not like white Christmas week weather, but just like regular Christmas week weather. So definitely much cooler down here,” Sistek said.

Although cold weather is typical as winter approaches, Sistek mentioned this time is different.

“It does look even cooler than average,” he said.

But Sistek added that the chance of snow is slim.

“Cooler weather fans, there’s some hope, but I haven’t seen a whole lot to be like, ‘It’s gonna snow at the start of December,’ or ‘It’s gonna snow down here on Thanksgiving, ‘” he said.

Harger: Katie Wilson says she’s not DSA. Fine. The DSA platform says ‘defund the police,’ and SPD’s hiring bonus just got defunded

"No WAY," I told myself. There's no way SPD, short hundreds of officers, working through a rough stretch on morale, and still a little tender from the whole "defund" era, would cut its one big recruiting tool: the hiring bonuses.
