Well, maybe not his real hair, but Dave Clement’s spirit is certainly back up.

According to the GoFundMe page for Seattle police officer Dave Clement, he is back at work and his energy is no longer dragging from chemotherapy. Plus, he’s added some new, darker curls.

August 3rd – Day+51 I’ve been back to work nearly three weeks now and I’m doing very well. My energy level has vastly improved. And I feel better than I have in a long time.
My blood work labs have all been coming back with good results. The staff at Northwestern Hospital reminded me that I have not had any IVIG since February. And I haven’t felt the need for it! (IVIG is what I was having to take every three weeks to lessen the effects of the CIDP.)

Interesting development – Dr. Burt, the head of the treatment program, told me that my hair would grow back, but that it might come back darker and possibly curly. I thought darker would be good…but curly? So, it’s back (see photo).

Thanks to all for your continued care.
God is good.

KIRO Radio’s Ron and Don brought light to Dave Clement’s situation in March to raise money for his treatment. Clement has a rare disease — Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy — and the City of Seattle’s insurance would not cover the treatment for it. But with the help of local donations — totaling more than $145,000 — he was able to get treatment in Chicago. Without a stem cell transplantation and chemotherapy, Clement would certainly face paralysis.

He has raised more than $180,000 for the police officer’s medical fund from more than 1,800 contributors.
