Stay away from talking feminine hygiene

Dori, you pulled the cord today with your segment on free tampons. They are designed to be in restrooms for an emergency — something you seem to be in the dark about, even with a wife and daughters. And yes, sometimes you simply don’t have a quarter for the vending machine. So, why have them available in men’s restrooms? Well, maybe some guys aren’t as insensitive or are a tad more empathetic to this issue. Thumbs down today.

Forgot this variable

Hey Dori, concerning the large number of projected deaths from heat waves in the future, you said most people would likely have air conditioning by then. You forgot to take into account that most of Seattle’s population will be living in tents and derelict RVs.

Dori is wrong

You’re bad at math, Dori, regarding the Seattle Times heatwave article. You don’t know the difference between mean and mode. Also, it’s a warning based on current scientific models, not a psychic saying that this will for sure happen. You cannot ignore Seattle is fourth in heatwave-related deaths. I wish you would tone down your pseudo-science. Critiquing scientific research is fine, unless you just use incorrect means to do so. At least take time to do a little research on your own.

Just listened to Dori talking to the UW professor about heat-related death estimates by 2100. She won that discussion. It was a shame to hear Dori try to wiggle out of the discussion with a quick, “Thank you for coming on … goodbye.”

Love you Dori, but please research CO2 emissions

I understand your skepticism of the global warming thing, but what about the the huge increase in carbon emissions in the last 200 years? Ice core samples have shown that there has been a dramatic increase in CO2 since the start of the Industrial Revolution. With that comes an environmental cost. Comparing with historical data shows that this will warm the planet. What results from that is yet to be seen, or has been and will get worse as world weather changes. It is difficult to change minds, but I hope you will give this serious thought and investigate for yourself. I think you are great and I love your show; please look deeper into the CO2 emissions in the last 400 years and you will see the difference. Then tell us what you see. What we have done can’t be good, maybe not as bad as some predict, but I don’t think it will be comfortable. I love oysters and I don’t want increased acidity to destroy my local harvest, either.

Longtime listeners not a fan of Trump talk

New citizen not happy with president

Dori, when I came to the Seattle area 20 years ago, I started to listen to your show and I really enjoyed it. I don’t know what happened with your show over the last two years or so, because things have gone downhill in a really bad way. It has become a purely political show, and it seems like you are supporting our crazed lunatic of a president. I agree with you that the liberals in the Seattle City Council are also a bunch of thugs who spend our money on frivolous stuff and do nothing to solve the problems of our city. But the one thing I cannot understand about you — and I think you are a smart person — is the fact that you cannot see what a danger this president is to our country. You simply can’t see through his lies and his deception, even when it’s right in front of you. I’ve been an outsider for the past 20 years, coming from a foreign country; I have seen the worst of the worst when it comes to politics and have had plenty of time to think about whom I want to support. Last year I became a U.S. citizen just in time to vote in the mid-term elections. I feel empowered to be able to vote and have a say in our democratic process. I am very, very sad that we have a president who does not care about the citizens of the United States. I pray every day that God will work in the hearts of the people of the U.S. so a new leader will be chosen in November 2019. If you can’t uphold the Constitution of the United States, you should not be president.

Stick to watch-dogging, not defending Trump

Dori, I’ve been listening to the show for over 15 years and today was the first time I wanted to turn it off before it finished. I don’t always agree with you — actually I seldom do — but you’ve always been reasonable and logical. Today I listened as you attempted to paint “illegals” (no human is illegal and the term only seeks to dehumanize and other the group) as evil. Yes, this individual raped a women. Yes, the criminal justice system failed her. Yes, there should be outrage over this incident. The fact that he is illegal is irrelevant. Statistically speaking, crime occurs less in the immigrant community when compared with US citizens. This rhetoric is simply attempting to further the narrative pushed by our president that the problem with this country is due to a minority group.

As for the “CNN sucks” chant — I agree they shouldn’t have dumped coverage, but the irony of saying CNN is thin-skinned when we have the most thin-skinned individual ever in power is staggering. This is a man who gets in petty squabbles with celebrities and foreign dignitaries alike over comments as trivial as the size of his hands. He gets recorded stating that someone is “nasty,” then denies saying it, and has the audacity to call the people reporting it “fake news.” It’s a narrative that’s been pushed by every would-be dictator in recent history. Demonize the media, blame the immigrants, and claim to be uniting the country by further alienating a segment, while stoking the anger of the working class. As a journalist, it should raise flags when the president claims the media is the enemy of the people. As a member of this state, you should see the benefit we have as a result of our immigrant community (look at the the orchards in Yakima or the entire restaurant industry). As a local watchdog, you should return to your job. I’ve seen you use your post for good. For helping heal the community after tragedy, for uniting rather than dividing us, sticking up for people when they’ve been wronged and have nowhere to turn. Go back to that. This completely partisan mouthpiece for Trump doesn’t suit you.
